About
Nathan Lambdin is an interdisciplinary artist whose sculptural practice draws from a culture of building and making, including residential architecture, furniture, textiles, construction industry manufacturing, and other elements of the built environment. His work explores our collective associations to vernacular forms through the effects of light, color, and the perception of objects in space.
His approach emerges from decades of engagement with maker-culture: skateboarding in the late 1980s, art school in the 1990s, experimental music with independent record label JagJaguwar and professional practice in both graphic design and architecture.
Born in Virginia and now living and working in Portland, Oregon, Nathan is an active contributer to the art and design community. He worked with Portland State University to design their new art gallery, holds a recurring open studio to share new work called “New Art on One Wall in the Basement” and is a regular attendee at Hide & Seek Gallery’s radical hospitality lunch gathering.
In addition to gallery exhibitions, he has realized large-scale sculptural installations for public audiences at a science research building in Colorado, a corporate headquarters campus in Utah, and an urban sport court facility in Washington.
